It is very worthwhile. Even if you go with a ticket you have to queue to enter the buildings, but they go quite fast. The inside of the cathedral is very nice.

History of Prague Zoo

  • The idea for the Prague Zoo was born in 1881 when Count Sweerts-Sporck had a brilliant idea - to establish a zoo as a celebration of the union between Crown Prince Rudolf and Princess Stephanie of Belgium.
  • The notion caught on like wildfire, and plans were set in motion. After acquiring the perfect plot of land, passionate committees rallied together to bring this dream to life.
  • Finally, in 1931, after much anticipation and hard work, Prague Zoo swung open its gates to the public, even though some areas were still a work in progress.
  • Over the years, the zoo has welcomed an array of animal inhabitants, from majestic tigers and elephants to towering giraffes and adorable polar bears.
  • As time passed, the zoo's dedication to wildlife conservation and education led to the creation of specialized pavilions and exhibitions.
  • Today, Prague Zoo boasts an impressive lineup of over 15 pavilions and a staggering 150 exhibits, each offering a unique glimpse into the animal kingdom.
